1. Introduction
As an Admin in ShedCloud, you are responsible for configuring and maintaining the system so other roles (Sales, Shop, Accounting, etc.) can work efficiently. This includes:
Managing products, kits, and inventory.
Maintaining accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Configuring user accounts and permissions.
Overseeing system settings and reporting.
2. Managing Products, Kits & Inventory
2.1 Adding Options to Products in ShedCloud
Related Module: Inventory
Purpose
As an Admin, you are responsible for managing product configurations in ShedCloud. This includes adding new options (kits) to existing products so sales teams and shop personnel can quote and build sheds accurately.
There are two methods when adding an option to a product. One option is slower, but allows granularity in configuration of subkits, while the other is faster but only allows options to be set on the parent kit.
Quick Reference
See Appendix A – Cheatsheet: Adding Options to Products for a one-page walkthrough (Loom SOP with screenshots).
When to Use
When a new option (e.g., window, shutter, star kit) becomes available.
When an existing option needs to be added to multiple shed sizes or models.
When updating default selections for kits.
Responsibilities of the Admin
Ensure new options are properly linked to products before release.
Maintain accuracy in Bill of Materials (BOMs) to avoid production errors.
Coordinate with Purchasing or Shop Manager for verification if needed.

Cautionary Notes
Ensure that you do not add the same kit to the same parent product multiple times, as this will trigger a warning.
Be cautious when removing options from the parent kit, as it may affect other products.
Tips for Efficiency
Use the faster method when adding the same kit to multiple sizes to save time.
If you frequently need to update options, consider creating a ticket for bulk updates to streamline the process.
